These Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Beef Tacos combine juicy, flavorful beef cooked in a rich garlic butter and sweet honey BBQ sauce, topped with a creamy, smoky taco sauce, cheddar cheese, and fresh cilantro for a deliciously satisfying meal perfect for any taco night.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef or beef strips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Taco Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Assembly

  • 6 soft taco tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook garlic: In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Cook beef: Add the ground beef or beef strips to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula if using ground beef. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Add sauce ingredients: Stir in the honey, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  4. Prepare taco sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, honey, BBQ sauce, and smoked paprika. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  5. Warm tortillas and assemble tacos: Warm the tortillas in a skillet or microwave until pliable. Spoon the beef mixture onto each tortilla, then drizzle the prepared taco sauce generously over the top. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and finish with fresh cilantro, if desired. Fold the tacos and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ground beef for a classic texture or beef strips for a meatier bite.
  • Adjust the amount of honey and BBQ sauce to make the tacos sweeter or tangier.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • Warm tortillas thoroughly to prevent cracking when folding.
  • Substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter sauce option.
  • Leftover beef mixture can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
