One Pot Kielbasa Pasta is a flavorful and comforting dish combining smoky sausage, tender pasta, and a creamy tomato sauce all cooked together in a single skillet for an easy and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 8 ounces small dry pasta (about 2 ¼ cups, depending on shape)
  • 10 ounces canned diced tomatoes (about 1 ¼ cups)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 medium onion, diced (about 1 cup / 8 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 pound smoked kielbasa or turkey/chicken sausage, sliced ¼-inch thick

Finishing Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced scallions, for garnish
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil. Start by pouring the olive oil into a deep pan or skillet (around 4–5 litres) and turn the stove to medium-high.
  2. Sauté sausage and onions. Now slide in the sausage slices and chopped onion. Let them sizzle till the sausage gets a little color and the onions look clear.
  3. Add garlic. Toss in the garlic, keep everything moving, and cook about half a minute till you can really smell it.
  4. Add liquids and pasta. Dump in your chicken broth, those canned diced tomatoes (juice and all), the dry pasta, milk or cream, along with the salt and pepper. Give it a good stir so it all mixes together.
  5. Simmer the pasta. Let it bubble gently with no lid for about 15 minutes, giving it a stir every now and then. The pasta should get soft and that sauce will thicken a bit.
  6. Add cheese and melt. Take the skillet off the heat and fold in half the Cheddar till it melts in smooth.
  7. Bake or cover to melt cheese. Pile that rest of the cheese on top, cover up, and wait till it’s all nice, bubbly, and a little golden.
  8. Garnish and serve. Toss some scallions over everything and dig in while it’s steaming hot.
